About
The Mission
Nashville has a growing Irish traditional music community, but finding out what gets played at sessions — and where to find the dots — has always been word-of-mouth at best. This site is an attempt to change that.
We keep a best-effort record of what was played at local sessions: the tunes, the keys, the sets, and links to sheet music and recordings on TheSession.org. Think of it as a living tunebook for Nashville's folk music scene.
Whether you're a regular looking to practice what we played last week, a newcomer figuring out what to learn first, or just curious about the local tradition — this is for you.
The Humans (& Non-Humans)
KJ Krause
Fiddler · Session regular · Curator
KJ started attending Nashville's Irish sessions and quickly realized there was no good way to share what got played each week. He'd been keeping tunelists on Notion — painstakingly linking each set to sheet music on TheSession — but figured the community deserved something better than a private page behind a share link.
So he built this site. Or rather, he and Slime built it together.
Slime
Non-Newtonian intelligence · Co-builder
Slime is KJ's AI assistant — a OpenClaw-powered agent that helps with everything from scraping tune data off TheSession to building and deploying this site. Think of Slime as the tireless intern who actually enjoys cross-referencing ABC notation at 2am.
Every tune ID, setting link, and key on this site was sourced and verified through TheSession's API — Slime handles the plumbing so KJ can focus on playing.
How It Works
After each session, KJ jots down the sets and tunes as best he can remember. Slime then enriches that data — looking up each tune on TheSession.org, finding the right settings (specific transcriptions), and linking everything together.
The result is a structured record where every tune links to its sheet music and every set links back to its source. The whole thing is open source.
Submit a Session
Want to get your session's tunes on this site? Email Slime at slimethebot@proton.me with what you played. No special format needed — just tell us:
- The date and venue (or session name)
- The tunes — names are enough, even approximate ones
- Keys if you know them (if not, we'll figure it out)
- Which tunes were played together as sets, if you remember
Slime will look everything up on TheSession, match the tunes, find the sheet music, and put together a draft. You'll get a preview link to check before anything goes live — if a key is wrong or a tune got misidentified, just reply and we'll fix it.
You can also email to report a correction on something already on the site, or to add a new session series (a recurring session at a venue we don't track yet).
